SUBJECT:
MC+ ELIGIBLE CHILD REQUIREMENT FOR CUSTODIAL PARENT COVERAGE  IMNL 0920.025.00   REVISION #19
 
DISCUSSION:
An uninsured custodial parent is defined as a person who is a biological or adoptive parent of a child under 19 years of age in their home.  There must be a non-CHIP MC+ eligible child.  This policy has not changed.  However, Edit 436 ? R LEVEL OF CARE NOT VALID WHEN THERE IS NOT A LEVEL OF CARE Q ON THE CASE has been put into place to insure there is a non-CHIP MC+ eligible child on the case.

NOTE:  If the only child eligible for non-CHIP MC+ is an adoptive child receiving an adoption subsidy and MC+ healthcare coverage through alternative care, contact Program and Policy in Central Office for assistance in approving these cases.
