CLARIFICATION OF FOSTER PARENT TRAINING AND WORK ACTIVITIES IN GRANDPARENTS AS FOSTER PARENT CASES |

This memorandum is a follow up to Memorandum
IM-#115 dated
August 28, 1999. It is to provide clarification to staff regarding Foster Parent Training and Work Activities for grandparents. The GAFP grandparent under 50 years of age must cooperate with work participation, as it is the requirement for this group. Foster Parent Training is not a requirement but will be considered as a work activity. Staff should continue to encourage Foster Parent Training for these grandparents. If the GAFP grandparent under 50 years of age refuses Foster Parent Training but is cooperating with work participation, they remain eligible for GAFP. If the grandparent under 50 years of age refuses to cooperate with work activities they are not eligible for a GAFP grant. The GAFP grandparent over 50 years of age must cooperate with Foster Parent Training as it is the requirement for this group. If the GAFP grandparent over 50 years of age refuses to cooperate with Foster Parent Training, they must cooperate with work participation. If the GAFP grandparent over 50 years of age refuses to cooperate with Foster Parent Training and work participation, they are not eligible for a GAFP grant. |
