MISSOURI'S SUCCESS IN FOOD STAMP ERROR REDUCTION |
DISCUSSION: |
In the past Missouri has faced high monetary
sanctions because of high food stamp error rates. Under the terms
of a settlement agreement with the Food and Nutrition Service (FNS), Missouri
agreed to reinvest a portion of the settlement total to improve food stamp
payment accuracy. Resolution of the remaining portion of the settlement
was contingent upon Missouri achieving an agreed upon level of performance
during a specified period of time. Missouri met its performance target
for Federal fiscal year (FFY) 1999 with a combined error rate of 8.58%.
As a result of the hard work and commitment of staff, FNS is waiving $2,975,078.33 of the penalties Missouri owed as sanctions. Many thanks to staff for the hard work and the ongoing commitment to food stamp payment accuracy. Congratulations and great work! |
