IM-40  03/08/00  GAFP IMU5 SYSTEM CHANGES

SUBJECT:
GRANDPARENTS AS FOSTER PARENTS IMU5 SYSTEM CHANGES

DISCUSSION:
The purpose of this memorandum is to describe the new procedure for entering Grandparents As Foster Parents cases in IMU5.  This changed effective February 18, 2000, when these cases were converted to active cash status.

This change means that the case action codes IMU5 will now accept in field 5 for GAFP cases are 01, 05, 20, 29, 30, 35 and 97.

Below are specific instructions for IMU5 entries for GAFP which differ from those for Temporary Assistance, or from former GAFP instructions.

Field 13F - Enter "G" for the caretaker who is under age 50.  Enter "F" for the caretaker who is 50 or older.  This code can be entered for a caretaker who is in closed status, so it is not necessary to register an individual application for the caretaker.  Do not enter a code in field 13F for the children in a GAFP case.

Field 13G - Enter level of care "A".

Field 19 - Do not make entries in this field.

Field 27 - Do not make an entry in this field, unless it is necessary to remove a previous entry.

Field 29 - Enter the number of children who have level of care "A".

Fields 33, 34, 35, 36 - Do not make entries in these fields, unless it is necessary to remove previous entries.

Field 37 - Enter the month for which there is an open payroll, for both approvals and adjustments.

Field 44 - Enter payments due for any months for which the payroll is no longer open.

The Division of Data Processing is making changes to our system to allow entries identifying caretaker characteristics, such as whether a caretaker is a grandparent or other relative, whether foster parent training has been completed, etc.  When this programming is complete, a forms manual revision will be issued.
