IM-64  04/10/00  INCLUSIVE CHILD CARE BROCHURES

SUBJECT:
INCLUSIVE CHILD CARE BROCHURES

DISCUSSION:
Finding quality child care for children with special needs is often an obstacle for families in many areas of the state.  The Missouri Council for Inclusive Child Care has developed two brochures that explain the benefits of inclusive child care to a child with special needs and others in the child care setting.

One brochure is directed to the family of a child with special needs.  It discusses the benefits to the child and provides some guidance in seeking quality inclusive child care settings.

A second brochure is intended for child care providers and the benefits of providing care to a child who has special needs.

These two brochures, with the Child Care Resource and Referral brochure, are a valuable resource for parents or guardians of a child with special needs.

The Child Care Resource and Referral Agencies have Inclusion Coordinators on staff dedicated to working with families of children with special needs in locating child care.  The Inclusion Coordinators also work with child care providers in finding resources to assist in caring for a child with special needs.

The Child Care Resource and Referral brochures are available through the warehouse.

The Inclusion Child Care brochures are not available through the warehouse.  The initial distribution the office receives is currently the only supply available.
