SUBJECT:
GRANT INCREASES AND ADJUSTMENTS IN SAB & BP CASES FORMS MANUAL REVISION # 21 : IMU5 INSTRUCTIONS, APPENDIX B, PAGE 18 AND 19, BP PRORATION CHART

DISCUSSION:
During the weekend of June 17, 2000, the Division of Data Processing and the Division of Family Services will adjust Supplemental Aid to the Blind and Blind Pension cases based on changes effective July 1, 2000.

Supplemental Aid to the Blind and Blind Pension Adjustments

Effective July 1, 2000, the maximum cash grant for Supplemental Aid to the Blind and Blind Pension increases to $398.00.

Use the new maximum of $398.00 for all SAB and BP IMU5 transactions beginning June 19, 2000, effective for July 2000 and later.  Make any payment for June or previous months as a retroactive payment based on the previous maximum.

A listing, "Cases Adjusted," will be sent to the county offices following the mass adjustment.  Use this listing for informational purposes.

A listing, "Cases Not Adjusted," will note AB cases with an old Expense amount in Field 33 (EXP/EIL) other than $391.00.

Take immediate action to review these cases and adjust as necessary.

Supplemental Nursing care Adjustments

Effective July 1, 2000, the maximum grant amounts for the SNC programs are increased.

SNC cases and cases with types of assistance R and F, levels of care W, X, P, V, Y, or B, will be adjusted.  Where appropriate, new grant amounts will be computed.

The V or W level of care maximum grant is increased to $390.00

The X or Y level of care maximum grant is increased to $292.00

The B or P level of care maximum grant is increased to $156.00

Effective June 19, 2000 use the new maximum amounts on all IMU5 transactions.  For approvals, enter July, (0700) in field 37 (1st month check received).  Make payments for June or previous months as a retroactive payment based on the previous maximums.

A listing, "Cases Adjusted" that is sorted by caseload, will be sent to county offices.  An additional listing, "Cases Needing Review for Adjustment" will also be sent to county offices.  It lists cases in which the amount of grant conflicts with the level of care.  Counties must review these cases, make necessary adjustments, and make grant increases effective July 1, 2000.

No IM-5 turnaround forms will be produced for these adjustments.
A notice will be printed on BP and SAB and SNC check stubs informing the claimant that the maximum grant has increased effective July 1, 2000.

A letter will be mailed to BP and SAB recipients that have direct deposit informing them that the maximum grant will increase effective July 1, 2000.
