IM-20  1/31/01  LIVING ARRANGEMENT CODE IN FSU5 FORMS MANUAL REVISION #7

SUBJECT:
LIVING ARRANGEMENT CODE IN FSU5
FORMS MANUAL REVISION #7

DISCUSSION:
Effective February 1, 2001, a living arrangement code must be entered when completing food stamp transactions in FSU5.  This living arrangement code prepares the current Legacy food stamp cases for conversion to FAMIS.  Households in group living arrangements, drug and alcohol treatment centers, and homeless shelters will be automatically converted as long as all other factors are met.  The living arrangement code shows that the household should be in a supercase by itself.

All food stamp cases must have the living arrangement code entered at the next certification or budget adjustment.  Enter the living arrangement code in the last section of field 20 in FSU5, titled "Livng Arrg."  The message "Errors highlighted" will appear at the bottom of the screen if the living arrangement code is not entered.  The living arrangement codes are as follows:

CODE
DESCRIPTION
DA
Drug and alcohol treatment facility
GH
Group home
HL
Homeless (does not stay at a shelter on a regular basis)
HS
Homeless shelter (stays at a shelter on a regular basis)
RA
Residential address
SW
Shelter for battered women and children
TR
Transient (has a home that moves with them - motor homes, lives in car, migrant farmworkers, etc.)

A list of active food stamp cases that do not have living arrangement codes assigned will be sent to the county prior to the county's conversion.  In order to convert the food stamp cases on the report, the living arrangement codes must be entered in field 20 of FSU5.

The FSU5 instruction page regarding field 20 is revised to include the living arrangement field.

NECESSARY ACTION:
  • Review this memorandum with all appropriate staff.
  • Enter the living arrangement code in field 20 of FSU5 for all certifications and budget adjustments.
  • File the Forms Manual page revision in the Forms Manual.
