IM-#41  02/27/01  EXTENSION OF MAF REINSTATEMENT PERIOD

SUBJECT:
EXTENSION OF MAF REINSTATEMENT PERIOD

DISCUSSION:
The reinstatement period for Medical Assistance for Families (MAF) cases reinstated in accordance with Memorandum IM-185 dated December 14, 2000 has been extended to March 31, 2001.  This allows the recipients until March 30, 2001 to respond.  Families that do not respond ("U" or "N" in IMU5 Field 27) will be closed on March 31, 2001 with a reason code of 70 or 71.

For the cases that respond (R in Field 27) or were receiving Child Care or Food Stamps (C or F in field 27), April 2, 2001 is the first date any action can be taken, other than to change them to regular MAF.  Due to the change in the reinstatement period, workers now have until April 30, 2001 to be complete determinations of on-going Medicaid /MC+ eligibility.

NECESSARY ACTION:
  • Share this memorandum with all staff.
  • Reinstated MAF cases will now close March 31, 2001 if no response is received by March 30, 2001.
  • Complete the determination for continual eligibility by April 30, 2001 for all families who respond or were receiving Food stamps and Child Care.
