CHANGE IN STANDARD WORK EXPENSE FOR MAF AND MC+ 100% FPL BUDGETS

DISCUSSION:
Effective April 1, 2002 the standard work exemption used when determining MAF eligibility and completing MC+ 100% federal poverty level budgets will decrease from $206 to $174.   The wage earner on a MAF case with the highest earnings will receive a standard work exemption of $174.  Any remaining wage earners will receive the $90 standard work exemption. 

IBCA has been revised to reflect this change and the increase in the FPL for April.  Staff may use IBCA to evaluate April eligibility.  IBCA figures for April will not be acceptable in the IMU5 system until March 18, 2002.
NECESSARY ACTION:
  • Review this memorandum with appropriate staff.
  • Begin using the $174 standard work exemption when determining eligibility effective with April 2002. 
  • File the revised manual page in the Family Healthcare Manual.
