DISCUSSION:
As discussed in IM-49 06/30/08 DEPENDENT CARE DEDUCTION, effective October 1, 2008, the dependent care maximum limit is removed when determining eligibility for Food Stamp benefits. This adjustment is being made the weekend of September 6, 2008.
All county offices need to review active EUs to ensure the dependent care amounts reported by the EU, as well as all mileage expenses, are entered into FAMIS.
To assist with this review, a listing of all Food Stamp EUs with dependent care expenses in FAMIS as of July 2008 is being forwarded to each county. This list will show the Total Dependent Care Expense entered by the ES, the total Dependent Care allowed on the Food Stamp case with the current cap, and an indicator (Y) if mileage or transportation expenses are currently entered in FAMIS.
NECESSARY ACTION:
- Review this memorandum with appropriate staff.
- Review EUs with dependent care expenses on the county listing.
