- TEMPORARY ASSISTANCE AND MO HEALTHNET TRACKING CODES FOR HURRICANE GUSTAV EVACUEES
DISCUSSION:
Effective immediately, use the following codes to identify and track Hurricane Gustav evacuees that apply for Temporary Assistance and MO HealthNet benefits:
- Legacy system: Enter the case identifier code of “G” (Gustav Evacuee) in field 27 of IMU5 upon approval.
- FAMIS system: Enter the living arrangement code of “NG” (Natural disaster – Gustav). Code NG can be used in conjunction with other living arrangement codes at the same residential address and allow multiple supercases at that address.
EU Composition and Supercase Membership
The FAMIS living arrangement code of NG can be used in conjunction with other living arrangement codes at the same address and allow multiple supercases at that address. Use the NG code on applications only. Evacuees that are mandatory assistance group members on existing Temporary Assistance and MO HealthNet eligibility units (EUs) must be added to the active case and the living arrangement code on the active supercase is not changed.
Mr. Smith lives in Missouri and receives MO HealthNet for Kids (MHK) for his son, John. He is separated from his wife Mrs. Smith and daughter Mary, who lived in Louisiana (Mrs. Smith is also the mother of his son John). After Hurricane Gustav, Mrs. Smith and the couple’s daughter Mary move in with Mr. Smith and John, with plans to remain in Missouri. Mr. Smith’s living arrangement code is RA (Residential Address).
Mrs. Smith wants to apply for MO HealthNet for Families for herself and Mary. Mrs. Smith is a mandatory assistance group member of Mr. Smith’s EU, as she is the mother of John. Process an add-a-person application, adding Mrs. Smith and Mary. The living arrangement code is not changed.
Example 2Ms. Tamala Johnson lives in Missouri and receives TA and MHK for her child. Her adult brother, Mr. Ed Johnson, lived in Mississippi with his daughter Jan. After Hurricane Gustav, Mr. Johnson and Jan move in with Ms. Johnson’s family, with the intent to remain in Missouri. Ms. Johnson’s living arrangement code is RA.
Mr. Ed Johnson wants to apply for TA and MHK for Jan. Neither Mr. Ed Johnson nor his daughter is mandatory assistance group members of Ms. Tamala Johnson’s EU. Create a supercase for Mr. Johnson with a living arrangement code of NG, and process the application.
Pending Applications
Temporary Assistance and MO HealthNet applications for evacuees that are still pending are to be updated to show the NG living arrangement code prior to approval. Change the living arrangement code by taking the following steps:
- Go to the Supercase Address/Supercase Transfer (FM0A) screen.
- Type A on the Command line.
- Prompt out for or type code NG in the Living Arrangement field.
- Press enter.
NECESSARY ACTION:
- Review this memorandum with appropriate staff immediately.
- For FAMIS cases use living arrangement code NG (Natural disaster – Gustav) for Hurricane Gustav evacuees from Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas.
- For Legacy cases enter case identifier code G (Gustav evacuee) in field 27 of IMU5.
