DISCUSSION:
The 2008 Farm Bill (The Food, Conservation, and Energy Act of 2008, Public Law 110-246) enacted on June 18, 2008, de-obligated paper Food Stamp coupons as legal tender one year from the date of enactment. Therefore, Food Stamp coupons may no longer be redeemed at stores after June 17, 2009.
A Paper Food Stamp Coupons Notice has been developed to notify clients that paper coupons will no longer be accepted. Post this notice in each county office and share with community groups.

- Review this memorandum with appropriate staff.
