DISCUSSION:
Food Stamp Manual section 1115.035.15.10 Types of Medical Cost Allowed has been updated to the correct process for counting SMI when QMB/SLMB case is approved, which was inadvertently changed to an old version in November, 2008.
When an individual has been approved for QMB or SLMB do not remove the SMI expense until the premium is no longer deducted from the Social Security benefit, even if the individual will later be reimbursed for the premium.
NECESSARY ACTION:
- Review this memorandum with appropriate staff.
