SUBJECT:

DIRECT DEPOSIT ADD / UPDATE (DDEP) SCREEN CHANGES

DISCUSSION:

Effective October 1, 2009, two new PF keys have been added to the Direct Deposit Add/Update (DDEP) screen.

The DDEP screen is used to add, update, or close a direct deposit account of a participant or vendor.  Direct deposit accounts are used to deposit or withdraw funds electronically from a participant or vendor.

A PF3: ADD COMMENT key is now available which allows a comment to be added to a closed direct deposit account.  To add a comment to a closed account, type the comment and press PF3.  The message, "COMMENT ADDED TO CLOSED ACCOUNT, ENTER NEXT ACTION" is displayed.  An existing comment cannot be changed or deleted.  The most current comment is displayed on the DDEP screen.  A comment may still be added to an active or pending account by pressing ENTER.  Previous comments may be viewed by going to the Direct Deposit Inquiry (DDIQ) screen and pressing the PF6: NEXT COMMENT key.

A PF4: RE-OPEN WITH PRENOTE key is now available to reopen a closed direct deposit account. Once the PF4 key is pressed the message, "PRESS ENTER TO REOPEN DIRECT DEPOSIT OPTION" is displayed.  When ENTER is pressed, a new message, "DIRECT DEPOSIT OPTION HAS BEEN REOPENED" displays.  The CURRENT STATUS of the account changes from CLOSED to PENDING with a DIRECT DEPOSIT EFFECTIVE date of ten days in the future to allow completion of the prenote process.

When reopening an account on the same day it is closed the PF4 key displays as: PF4:  REOPEN PARTICIPATION with the message, "PRESS ENTER TO REOPEN DIRECT DEPOSIT OPTION".  After pressing PF4, the message, "DIRECT DEPOSIT OPTION HAS BEEN REOPENED" shows and the CURRENT STATUS is changed to ACTIVE.  Reopening a direct deposit account on the same day it was closed does not initiate the prenote process unless a prenote was pending at the time the direct deposit account closed.
