IM-#73      12/01/10

DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL SERVICES
FAMILY SUPPORT DIVISION
P.O. BOX 2320
JEFFERSON CITY, MISSOURI
TO:
ALL COUNTY OFFICES
FROM:
ALYSON CAMPBELL, DIRECTOR
SUBJECT:
REMOVING IMMEDIATE ENGAGEMENT REQUIREMENT
TEMPORARY ASSISTANCE/CASE MANAGEMENT MANUAL REVISION #26

DISCUSSION:

Effective December 6, 2010, Immediate Engagement (IE) is no longer an eligibility requirement for the Temporary Assistance (TA) program.

Eligibility specialists must continue to complete an initial assessment at application and enter the appropriate work requirement indicator on the TA Work Requirement (COMPACT/FM8B) screen in FAMIS.  TA applicants that are mandatory participants or volunteer to participate in work activities continue to be referred to the Missouri Work Assistance program electronically.  FAMIS no longer “pends” an application for compliance with IE.  All TA applications may be approved when all other eligibility factors are met.

The Compliance/Good Cause and Date field is removed from the TA Work Requirement (COMPACT/FM8B) screen in FAMIS.  Any applications that are pending for IE only will be approved in the December 6, 2010 nightly batch.  Any applications that are pending for IE and any other eligibility factor will have the IE requirement removed as an eligibility factor.

NOTE: An application may show pending for IE if the COMPACT screen wasn’t updated to include the Compliance/Good Cause code of 06 and a date the good cause code was entered.

Reminder “041 Good Cause for not complying with Immediate Engagement was determined by CAP case manager” is now obsolete.

Manual sections 0205.065.00 through 0205.065.020 have been removed from the Temporary Assistance/Case Management manual.
