- SUBJECT:
- FAMIS ALERT ON 60 MONTH TIME LIMIT
DISCUSSION:
Beginning March 28, 2011, FAMIS will generate the alert, “Participant Lifetime Limit Reached”, when a participant receives 58 months or more Temporary Assistance (TA) and there is not a valid exemption or extension reason on the TA Work Requirement (COMPACT/FM8B) screen.
This alert is also generated at application when an individual applies for TA and they have already received TA for 60 months. If the applicant does not meet a valid exemption or extension reason, the Temporary Assistance application rejects on the 30th day. If the applicant does not meet a valid exemption or extension reason, they are not eligible for TA.
Eligibility specialists must:
- Review each case/application to determine if the participant/applicant meets an exemption reason. Refer to 0205.075.10 Exemptions from the Sixty (60) Month Lifetime Limit.
or;
- Review each case/application to determine if the participant/applicant qualifies for an extension. Refer to 0205.075.15 Extensions to the Sixty (60) Month Lifetime Limit.
- Ensure the TA Work Requirement (COMPACT/FM8B) screen is updated with the correct work requirement indicator (work req ind). Refer to the FAMIS User Guide TA Work Requirements Screen for directions.
NOTE: Enter a “D” in the Work Requirement Indicator (Work Req Ind) field on the COMPACT/FM8B screen if the applicant is not eligible for an exemption or extension.
This alert is removed from the Alert/Reminder List (ALREMIND/FM7M) screen when the work requirement indicator on the COMPACT/FM8B screen has a valid exemption or extension reason, when the TA case is closed, or the application rejected. If the applicant/participant does not meet a valid exemption or extension reason, the applicant/participant is not eligible for TA.
A manual revision to add this alert to the Income Maintenance Manual will be coming in a separate memorandum.
NECESSARY ACTION:
- Review this memorandum with appropriate staff.
