DISCUSSION:

Training curriculum to assist Income Maintenance staff with safeguarding Federal Tax Information (FTI) from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has been developed and is available in the Employee Learning Center (ELC).

The Course is titled IRS Penalties Training and is course code FS000159.  This course takes approximately fifteen minutes to complete.  Prior to beginning the course make sure you allow adequate time to complete it.

This training provides important information regarding the safeguarding of FTI.  Each Family Support Division, Income Maintenance employee must take this training annually and acknowledge that they have read and understand the importance of safeguarding FTI.  This training must be completed by each employee no later than June 30, 2011 and annually thereafter.  New staff will be required to complete the training within 30 days of starting with the agency.  The ELC will track compliance with this requirement and notify supervisors and managers of any individuals who need to complete this training.

The Children’s Division, Child Care Subsidy Program and Policy and Child Care Provider Relations staff that have access to FTI must also complete this training.

The training must be added for certain Children’s Division (CD) OSA staff that have a dual role and work with FSD customers.  If an employee did not have this training added to his/her training plan but s/he works with FTI, the manager must add this training to the employee’s training plan manually in the ELC.

The training can be completed more than once per year.  If supervisors or managers feel that staff needs to review the information, follow normal procedures for enrolling and completing online training.
