DISCUSSION:
Effective immediately, staff must use Global Languages & Cultures Inc for all written translation services. A new contract was awarded May 1, 2011.

When written translation is necessary, contact Global Languages & Cultures Inc via phone, fax or email. All requests should go through the appropriate supervisory channels. Each office is locally responsible for paying for any written translations.
NOTE: There is no change to the over-the-phone interpreter service provider.
A new contract was awarded for in–person interpretation services. Staff must choose the lowest–priced vendor based on the language, situation, anticipated time, and the county where the interpreter is needed. Staff are no longer required to obtain price quotes from three contractors. The lowest cost vendor can be determined by reviewing the pricing pages of the contract.
Contract information can be found on the Office of Administration (OA) website, and by following this link: http://oa.mo.gov/purch/contracts/.
- Once the contract search page has been reached, go to 4.
- Search by Contract Type and select Statewide Professional Service Contracts.
- Narrow the search by selecting Communication and Supportive Services.
- Press the ‘Submit’ button.
The list of contracted vendors under the grouping Translations Services – Verbal Language Interpretation displays and can be used for in-person translation requests.
NECESSARY ACTION:
- Review this memorandum with appropriate staff.
- Begin using Global Languages & Cultures, Inc for all written translation services.
- Obtain contract information for in-person interpretation services on the OA website.
- Continue using Language Select for over-the-phone interpreter services.
