MO HEALTHNET SPEND DOWN DISCUSSION CHECKLIST AND INSTRUCTIONS REVISED

DISCUSSION:

The MO HealthNet spend down discussion checklist and instructions distributed during spend down training have been revised.  The additional options available to participants to meet spend down, the new carry over and combination of incurred eligible medical expenses and partial payment, have been added.

Eligibility specialists should use the revised discussion checklist when taking new applications, conducting reviews, or during interim contacts with participants, to assist in explaining spend down. The form is not available from the warehouse; print and copy the attachment as needed.

NOTE:  It is not necessary to contact active spend down participants to update the case record with a revised checklist.  Active participants have received a notice explaining the new options.
