DISCUSSION:
Effective immediately, the Family Support Division (FSD) staff is no longer required to attempt contact to Food Stamp applicants on the same day the application is received in the following situations:
- Food Stamp recertifications
- Initial applications that have the expedited screening complete and don't appear eligible for expedited.
An attempt should be made to contact the applicant the day of application or the next day in the following situations:
- Initial applications that have the expedited screening complete and do appear eligible for expedited benefits.
- Applications with incomplete expedite screening.
Note: If the applicant cannot be reached, the application should still be expedited and postponed for the interview when the expedited screening is complete and the applicant's identity is verified.
This change does not affect the following policy:
- Scheduling interviews within 5 days of the request for Food Stamp benefits. See Income Maintenance Manual section 1120.045.00 INTERVIEWS.
- Registering applications the same day or the next day after the application is received.
