COMMENTS IN FAMIS

DISCUSSION:

The purpose of this memorandum is to remind staff of the location and types of notes and comments needed in FAMIS. FAMIS contains the electronic case file, and must include clear and factual information that may be used in an Administrative Hearing to support decisions made by the eligibility specialist.

Comments are used to provide additional information, clarify data entered in FAMIS, and to support actions taken on a case. All interactions with the customer must be recorded on the Eligibility Unit Member Role (EUMEMROL/FM3Z) screen. The Comments Quick Reference Chart provides detailed information related to appropriate comments and location in the electronic case record.

Precise comments are vital as the agency moves to a task-based method of case work. Any staff member must have the ability to complete a task on any case record, so the electronic file is to contain sufficient information needed to complete the task assigned. A Comment will also alert staff to what tasks have been completed.
