- REVERSAL OF THE REDUCTION TO SUPPLEMENTAL AID TO THE BLIND AND BLIND PENSION GRANTS
DISCUSSION:
This memorandum is to announce that a supplemental appropriation from the Missouri General Assembly will be requested to continue Supplemental Aid to the Blind (SAB) and Blind Pension (BP) grants at the current level. The Governor has ordered the Missouri Department of Social Services (DSS) to reverse its plans to reduce benefits for Missourian’s who qualify for SAB and BP. SAB and BP grants will not be reduced on January 1, 2015 as announced in Income Maintenance memorandum IM-65 SUPPLEMENTAL AID TO THE BLIND AND BLIND PENSION BENEFIT REDUCTION Dated November 4, 2014.
A special notice explaining grant amounts will not be reduced was mailed December 10, 2014 to all active SAB and BP participants. In addition, participants will receive a MO HealthNet Action Notice (FA460) after the mass adjustment to restore the grant amount is completed December 20, 2014.
When customers contact the local office requesting information about the decision to keep grants at their current levels, please refer them to the FSD Customer Relations Unit at (573) 751-8959.
