TO:
ALL COUNTY OFFICES
FROM:
ALYSON CAMPBELL, DIRECTOR
SUBJECT:
FOOD STAMP CIVIL RIGHTS TRAINING 2015

DISCUSSION:

The purpose of this memorandum is to introduce Food Stamp Civil Rights Training 2015. Income Maintenance Memorandum IM-#87 FOOD STAMP CIVIL RIGHTS TRAINING, dated December 15, 2009 introduced the Civil Rights training.

All staff who work with the Food Stamp program must complete this training annually. Working with the Food Stamp program includes reception of Food Stamp applicants and participants, and assisting eligibility staff with anything related to case files or applicants and participants.

The Food Stamp Civil Rights training has been updated. It is available on the Employee Learning Center (ELC) for all FSD employees, except those identified as Child Support or Rehabilitation Services for the Blind staff. The training has also been added for certain Children's Division (CD) clerical staff that work with FSD customers. If an employee did not have this training added to his/her training plan but s/he works with the Food Stamp Program, the manager must manually add this training to the employee's training plan in the ELC.

This is a separate course from Civil Rights and Diversity training offered by the Human Resources Center. Even staff who have attended the Civil Rights and Diversity classroom training must complete the Food Stamp Civil Rights online training.

Staff will be notified by the ELC when it is time to complete the training each year. FSD and specified CD staff must complete this training within 30 days of the date of this memorandum. A reminder email from the ELC will be sent weekly for those individuals who have not completed this training.

The course title is Food Stamp Civil Rights Training 2015 and the course code is FS000242. Complete a course search in the ELC using the course code and the Family Support Division category to start the course.

New staff, including those recently hired or in a new position that includes Food Stamp-related responsibilities, must complete the Food Stamp Civil Rights Training 2015 no later than one month after their start date with that position.

Civil rights training compliance reports are generated monthly and Family Support Division management will be notified of staff needing to complete the training.
