- JULIE GIBSON, DIRECTOR
- SUBJECT:
- FOOD STAMP INTERVIEW FOR ELDERLY AND DISABLED HOUSEHOLDS
- FOOD STAMP MANUAL REVISION #42
1130.015.15 Processing Recertifications
DISCUSSION:
Effective immediately it is no longer necessary to conduct Food Stamp interviews for recertifications if:
- All household members are either elderly or disabled, and
- there is no earned income, and
- the household reports no change in circumstances
Staff must review the recertification form to ensure no changes in circumstances are reported before a decision is made to waive the interview. Interviews for elderly or disabled households must be completed if:
- the household reports changes (i.e. new earned income or address), or
- it is necessary to clarify circumstances about the recertification application, or
- a household requests an interview.
NOTE: Households that complete an interview at recertification must meet verification requirements. The FSD will continue to verify Social Security Income using the interface screen with Social Security (IIVE).
NECESSARY ACTION:
- Review this memorandum with appropriate staff.
- Waive recertification interview with elderly/disabled households if the above policy change applies.
