- SUBJECT:
- EXPEDITE DETERMINATION FOR OUT-OF-STATE DUPLICATE PARTICIPATION
- MANUAL REVISION #51:
1105.015.15 Duplicate Participation
DISCUSSION:
Effective immediately, every reasonable effort should be made to verify out-of-state participation for an expedited Food Stamp application; however, do not pend any expedited application for this reason. The policy manual has been updated to reflect:
- how to process expedited applications if verification of out-of-state participation cannot be obtained the same day as application
- what to do if it is verified or discovered that benefits were duplicate participation
If verification cannot be obtained the application should be processed using client’s statement (CS) verification code on the Received Out Of State (RECOUTST) screen in FAMIS, approve expedited benefits and pend for out-of-state verification for ongoing months.
If it is verified or discovered that benefits were duplicate participation for the approved expedited months, enter a claim to recoup the benefits.
NECESSARY ACTION:
- Review this memorandum with appropriate staff.
- Stop pending expedited applications for out-of-state benefits.
