- SUBJECT:
- NEW "HOW RECEIVED" CODE IN FAMIS FOR LOW INCOME SUBSIDY (LIS) APPLICATIONS RECEIVED FROM THE SOCIAL SECURITY ADMINISTRATION (SSA)
DISCUSSION:
The purpose of this memorandum is to introduce a new code specifically for LIS applications received from the SSA.
Effective March 20, 2016 FAMIS has been updated to allow the use of a new how received code for applications. The Low Income Subsidy (LS) code is to be used only for application requesting assistance with Medicare premium payments, due to referrals received from the SSA.
FAMIS will not require printing of the FA 100 for applications coded as received by LS.
When processing an application registered as received LS, explore eligibility for Qualified Medicare Beneficiary (QMB), and Specified Low Income Medicare Beneficiary (SLMB). This is not an application for MO HealthNet for the Aged, Blind, and Disabled (MHABD) or other MO HealthNet programs.
NOTE: All LIS applications are currently being forwarded to Texas County. Texas County registers and processes all LIS applications, except for those referred to the Specialized Supplemental Aid to the Blind/Blind Pension (SAB/BP) Unit. There is no change in this process.
NECESSARY ACTION:
- Review this memorandum with appropriate staff.
