MEMORANDUM

DISCUSSION:

This memorandum provides policy clarification on granting Extended Women’s Health Services (EWHS) after the post-partum period when the question ‘Is this person in need of Family Planning Services?’ has not been answered.

If the individual is not insured, EWHS will follow the post-partum period whether or not the family planning question was answered. If the individual is insured then they do not qualify for EWHS.

NOTE: Uninsured Women’s Health Services (UWHS) is different from EWHS. UWHS is not an automatic coverage such as EWHS. The individual must request family planning services to be eligible for UWHS.
