IM-93  07/23/99  MC+ OUTREACH TO FOOD STAMP & CHILD CARE HOMES

SUBJECT:
MC+ OUTREACH TO FOOD STAMP AND CHILD CARE HOUSEHOLDS

DISCUSSION:
In July, State office will mail an MC+ application to households with children in the home who do not receive MC+, but who are currently receiving Food Stamps or Child Care.  The mailing will include a cover letter with the income guidelines for the MC+ program.  The application is in the form of a self-mailer which contains instructions to send the completed application to the MC+ phone center serving their area.

Effective immediately, begin sending "MC+ for Kids Cards" with notification letters for Food Stamp and Child Care when there are children in the household not receiving MC+.  This procedure is to inform our customers that healthcare coverage may be available to their children.  "MC+ for Kids Cards" can be ordered through the warehouse.

NECESSARY ACTION:
  • Discuss this memorandum with appropriate staff.

  •
  • Start sending "MC+ for Kids Card" with Food Stamp and Child Care notification letters when the children do not receive MC+ healthcare coverage.

Dear Parent:

Your children may be eligible for a new health insurance program.  Missouri's MC+ program provides health care coverage for children up through age 18 in low income working families.  Coverage includes hospital care, visits to the doctor, medicine, and other medically necessary services.

If you wish to apply, please complete the enclosed application and send it to the MC+ Service Center that represents your area.  The date we receive it will be your date of application.  You will be notified once an eligibility determination is completed.  If you have any questions on the MC+ program please feel free to contact the MC+ Service Center at 1-888-275-5908.

Sincerely,
Denise Cross, Director
Division of Family Services
