SUBJECT:
MC+ WORKING PARENTS

DISCUSSION:
EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY any individual applying for MC+ healthcare coverage as a Custodial Parent or a Non-Custodial Parent (current in child support payments) must be working to be eligible.  Working is defined as having gross earned income above the Medical Assistance for Families (MAF) two person percentage of need standard (currently $234.00 a month).  In a two parent family, each parent must have earnings above $234.00 for both to be eligible for coverage.  If only one parent is working, the parent not working is ineligible.  There are NO exceptions to this rule.

No special review is to be done on currently active cases.

NECESSARY ACTION:
  • Share this memorandum with all appropriate staff.

  •
  • Begin applying the working requirement to custodial and non-custodial parent applicants.
