Providers who are exempt from licensure, may register with DSS and complete a Child Care Provider Registration Application and Agreement to accept payment directly through the invoice system, if the provider:
- is caring for Six (6) or Fewer children (SOF);
- has been granted an exemption from licensing by the DHSS Section for Child Care Regulation; or
- is licensed for only a portion of the year (i.e. schools who are licensed during the school year, but claim license exempt status during the summer in order to run summer programs). These facilities must contract for the time period in which they operate under their DHSS license and must register for the time period they operate as a license exempt facility. NOTE: There can only be one (1) registered provider per physical address.
