IM-#26 March 23, 2007,  IM-#83 August 2, 2005

Eligibility for Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP)  will be determined by comparing available gross monthly income to the appropriate percentage of poverty level. Eligibility Unit  rules are the same rules used for MO HealthNet for Kids (MHK) non-CHIP. Gross income is determined following MHK policy for non-CHIP children. There are no allowable deductions/disregards with the exception of overhead expenses for self-employment income.

  • CHIP NO-COST: Net income above non-CHIP maximum. Gross income up to and including 150% FPL.
  • CHIP PREMIUM: Gross income over 150%, up to 300% FPL.

NOTE: A child must be determined ineligible for the MO HealthNet for Pregnant Women (MPW) program and the non-CHIP group prior to approval for a CHIP group. This includes children only eligible by excluding optional members from the assistance group.
