IM-51 April 29, 2022; IM-137 November 21, 2005
Staff are required to verify the household’s legal obligation to pay child support, the amount of the obligation, and the monthly amount of child support the household actually pays.
Whenever possible, obtain information regarding the household’s legal obligation and actual payments from the Missouri Automated Child Support System (MACSS). When this information is not available through MACSS, acceptable documentary verifications include, but are not limited to, the following:
- For obligation amount:
- divorce decree
- support order
- separation agreement
- order of garnishment
- For actual amount of child support paid:
- paystubs if state child support as a deduction
- canceled check
- copy of cashier’s check
The application should not pend over 30 days or be denied because of failure to provide child support expense verification. If the child support expense cannot be verified, the eligibility determination is completed without allowing the child support deduction.
Refer to 1115.035.20 Child Support Exclusion for further information.
