The Social Security Administration (SSA) determines who meets SSA 1619 eligibility criteria.
SSA will notify State Office of individuals eligible for 1619 status. SSA also notifies the claimant that s/he is 1619 eligible.
If a claimant notifies the worker that s/he is SSA 1619 eligible, obtain verification from SSA of the date the claimant attained 1619 status so the worker can determine whether the individual received Medicaid in the month immediately preceding the month 1619 status was obtained. If the worker is unable to obtain the information from SSA, send an email to the IM Program and Policy Unit. Include on the email the claimant’s name, DCN, Social Security number, and month employment began.
NOTE: Send an email to the IM Program and Policy unit to verify 1619 status prior to closing an MA case when an SSI claimant becomes employed.
