The participant’s eligibility for Medicaid coverage begins the first day of the month of application, provided the participant is subsequently found eligible and was not obviously ineligible for the entire month of application and the prior three months. If the participant was obviously ineligible for the entire month of application and all three months prior to approval, the Medicaid eligibility date begins with the first day of the month in which eligibility was met. Medicaid prior quarter (PQ) eligibility criteria applies to SAB participants. Individuals may apply or reapply for PQ for up to one year after the application. They may apply for PQ in person, by telephone, or in writing.
SAB participants under 21 years of age who qualify are also eligible for HCY (EPSDT) services.
