Qualified Medicare Beneficiary (QMB) applications can be considered for each member of the eligibility unit. The income and resources of a spouse who lives in the home are considered, but eligibility for QMB (and any other programs) are considered for each participant separately.
QMB eligibility can be determined alongside an initial application for MO HealthNet for the Aged, Blind, and Disabled, as an initial application for QMB only, or can be added to an active case at any time. A new application is not required when a participant is receiving any MO HealthNet benefits, or is an included spouse in any MO HealthNet case. The participant can request to add QMB or staff may contact the participant to discuss, if the participant may be eligible for QMB.
Eligible participants are able to receive QMB and Family MO HealthNet (MAGI) at the same time. These individuals are not required to receive MO HealthNet for the Aged, Blind and Disabled (MHABD).
