1215.025.20.05 Process for Using the Family Care Safety Registry for Background Screenings:

CD11-91/OEC-20 – October 17, 2011

The Family Care Safety Registry (FCSR) was established on January 01, 2001. The registry contains names of caregivers or potential caregivers who have submitted their registration information and have had the appropriate background screenings completed.

Missouri law, RSMO 210.906, requires child care providers and all household members age 17 years and older to register with the FCSR. Providers who do not register are considered guilty of a Class B misdemeanor offense. All DSS subsidized providers are required, by statute, to register with the FCSR. DSS uses the FCSR to perform the background screenings.  The results are evaluated by the Early Childhood and Prevention Services Section of the Children’s Division (ECPSS) and sent to the appropriate Child Care Provider Relations Unit (CCPRU).
