The Missouri Head Start State Collaboration Office (MHSSCO) is federally-mandated by the Head Start Act to work in various service areas that mirror Early Head Start (EHS)/Head Start (HS) comprehensive services, including health care, welfare, child welfare, child care, education, community service activities, family literacy, professional development, activities relating to children with disabilities, and services for homeless families. MHSSCO is a partnership at the state level to support the development of multi-agency and public/private partnerships to help build early childhood systems, enhance access to comprehensive services for low-income children, and involve HS in state policies affecting low-income families.
