Consider all eligibility factors when adding a person to the eligibility unit to redetermine eligibility.
If the person is a mandatory eligibility member, s/he must be added to the eligibility unit.
If the person is an optional eligibility member, add the person to the EU to determine the effect on the case. The EU should decide whether to include or exclude the child and the ES should document the EU’s decision.
- If adding the person results in a decreased sliding fee, include the person in the EU. If adding the person results in the case closing, exclude the person from the EU.
- If adding the person results in an increased sliding fee, inform the EU they have the option of including or excluding the person and the results of each action. Due to simplified reporting, the change will not occur on the current determination period. If the EU reapplies, the action of including the optional member could affect the case during the reapplication process.
NOTE: If a person who is included in the eligibility unit as an optional member becomes ineligible, remove the optional person from the eligibility unit.
