Budget only co-pay and/or sliding fee (if applicable) on child care received through a contracted provider or through voucher payments.
Only the amount a participant pays for child care and is NOT reimbursed is an allowable child care expense. Do not consider such reimbursement payments as income.
If a Temporary Assistance participant is approved for child care assistance, complete a budget and remove child care costs. If removal of the child care costs shows no need on the budget, discuss the following two available options with the family.
- The family may continue receiving child care assistance and the Temporary Assistance case will close; or
- The family can discontinue receiving child care assistance and the Temporary Assistance case remains open.
