Work participation is defined as engaging in education, training, and work experience activities that are directly related to employment.
Hours of participation are the actual number of hours in which a Temporary Assistance (TA) recipient attends work activities. Individuals meet their participation requirements when their average total hours per week, during a given month, equal their required participation hours per week.
An individual who engages in the minimum hours per week required for the federal fiscal month is counted in the work participation rate. While it is necessary to be sensitive to the TA recipient’s individual needs, encourage him/her to engage in as many hours as he/she is able to handle.
