BABY YOUR BABY KEEPSAKE BOOK
 
DISCUSSION:
The Missouri Department of Health (DOH) has created a keepsake book utilizing the Baby Your Baby program to promote prenatal care and child health.  The book was developed to be Missouri-specific so that messages would be consistent with those of other state agencies and programs.  Information about the MC+ program and Healthy Children and Youth services have been incorporated in this book to help educate our families.  One sample copy of the book is being sent to each DFS office (a copy of the cover is attached to this memo).

These keepsake books are to be available in the local DFS offices and offered to women who apply for Medicaid/MC+, and are pregnant.  DOH has been distributing the keepsake book in local health offices since March of 2001, so a client may already have one.  The book covers pregnancy and child health up to age six years.  The goal is provide information on a preventive basis.  To order these books for distribution in your office please call TEL-LINK at 1-800-835-5465.  Please limit your requests to the number of pregnant women your office sees in a three-month period.  Additional books can be ordered as needed.  DOH will provide offices with sufficient books for their recipients, but hopes to avoid sending more books than can be distribute and easily stored. 

The keepsake book will be available in Spanish in August 2001.

NECESSARY ACTION:
  • Share this memorandum with all appropriate staff. 
  • Order an adequate supply of the Baby Your Baby Keepsake Book by calling 1-800-835-5465.
  • Begin offering the keepsake book to all pregnant women applying for MC+ or Medicaid upon receipt of the initial supply.
