AGENCY ASSISTANCE AND DISCLOSURE OF INFORMATION
 
DISCUSSION:
Staff must assist households in obtaining needed verification provided the household is cooperating in obtaining evidence of its statements.

When assisting households in obtaining verification, do not:

  • disclose that the household has applied for food   stamp benefits,
  • disclose information provided by the household on their application for benefits, nor
  • suggest the household is suspected of any wrong doing.
Staff should disclose only the information necessary to get the information being sought.
 
NECESSARY ACTION:
  • Review this memorandum with necessary staff.
