IM-150  08/06/01  REVISIONS TO INCOME MAINTENANCE TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT HOME PAGE

SUBJECT:
REVISIONS TO INCOME MAINTENANCE TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT HOME PAGE

DISCUSSION:
The Income Maintenance (IM) Training and Development home page is revised.  These revisions are a result of suggestions by staff.  The DFS Intranet provides an effective method of communicating with staff regarding IM Training and Development information.

The appearance of the home page as well as the content is revised.  Following is a summary of the revisions:

  • Training Schedule

  • The schedule for Income Maintenance training is accessible from the home page.  Class dates and locations are listed.  The schedule for FY 2002 is now available.

Note:  The training schedules for FY 2002 are tentative.  The budget cutbacks and hiring freeze may cause changes to these schedules.  Cancellations and other changes will be posted immediately on the IM Training and Development home page.

  • Course Descriptions

  • A description of all the Income Maintenance training is accessible from the home page.  The course descriptions include:  number of training hours, prerequisites, course description, course objectives, and course time frames.
  • Supervisor's Tools
    • FAMIS Supervisor's Guide

    • The FAMIS Supervisor's Guide is accessible from the training home page.  As revisions are made to the FAMIS Supervisor's Guide, staff will be notified by memo.

    • Supervisor's Guide: Developing Front-Line Staff

    • Information from the Supervisor's Guide: Developing Front-Line Staff is accessible from the training home page.  The information available includes:
      • Interview Observation Checklists
      • Coaching Conferences
      • Competency Checklist
      • Competency Resource List
      • New Employee Orientation Checklist
      • Food Stamp Program Week Objectives
Revisions have been made to the information contained in the Supervisor's Guide: Developing Front-Line Staff that were distributed to supervisors in March and April.  The sections of the Guide that are revised are as follows:  Interview Observation Checklists are separated into three different files; Coaching Conferences - Making Correct Expedited Service Decisions and Principles of Effective Interviewing; and Food Stamp Program Week Objectives.
    • Supervisor's Supplements to the On-The-Job Training (OJT) Guides

    • The Supervisor's Supplements to the OJT Guides are accessible from the training home page.
  • CW Reference Guide

  • The Caseworker Reference Guide (CRG) is in the process of undergoing a major revision.  When the CRG revision is complete, the entire CRG will be posted on the training home page.  The CRG will only be available on the Intranet for a short period of time.  This will give staff the ability to print the CRG if they want an updated version of it.  After the CRG is removed from the Intranet, subsequent revisions will be posted so staff can print the revised pages and update their copies of the CRG.  At that time, hard copies of the CRG revisions will no longer be sent to the Area Offices for distribution to counties.  Staff will be notified by memo when the CRG is available on the Intranet and as revisions are posted.
  • Sneak Previews

  • A link is provided on the home page to the Sneak Previews.
  • Take 10's

  • A link is provided on the home page to the Take 10's.

    • The training package on Temporary Medicaid for Pregnant Women is accessible from the training home page.
Staff will be advised when additional training packages are posted.
  • Training Org Chart

  • The Training Organizational Chart is accessible from the training home page.
If the buttons and/or graphics on the IM Training and Development home page do not display correctly, take the following action:
      • minimize and then maximize the screen, or
      • use the scroll bar to move up and down on the screen.
This should cause the buttons and/or graphics to display correctly.

When making certain selections (e.g. Coaching Conferences) on the IM Training and Development home page, a dialog box will appear.  The dialog box will ask if you want to "save it to a disk" or "open it."  Choose "open it" and click on OK.  This will open Adobe Acrobat Reader and you will see the file you selected.  Once you are finished with the selection, close the window by clicking on the "X" in the upper right hand corner of the screen.

NECESSARY ACTION:
  • Review this memorandum with appropriate staff.
  • Supervisors who have copies of the Supervisor's Guide: Developing Front-Line Staff should print off the revisions and file them in their guides.
  • If staff has any comments or suggestions, please send them to F051TD.
