IM-67  3/29/01  DOMESTIC VIOLENCE INDICATOR   FORMS MANUAL REV16

SUBJECT:
DOMESTIC VIOLENCE INDICATOR
FORMS MANUAL REVISION # 16

DISCUSSION:
This memorandum will discuss changes recently made to the data entry system.  These changes were made to accommodate a domestic violence indicator for Temporary Assistance cases.

With this indicator, domestic violence cases will be identified more quickly.  This indicator will be an alert to other staff who have access to our system.  It will encourage communication between agencies that provide services to the participant, as one more way to keep the alternate address from being changed.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE INDICATOR IN IAPP

On the second page of the IAPP system, staff will enter a "Y" or "N" in the "DOM VIO" field.  This field is located on the left-hand side of the screen, directly under STATUS.  When domestic violence has been identified prior to entering the application on IAPP, enter "Y" or "N" at this time.

If the domestic violence status is unknown at this time, the field may be left blank, just space over it.  A copy of the IAPP screen had been included in this memorandum as an example.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE INDICATOR IN IM-5/IMU5

The IM-5/IMU5 system has been updated to include the domestic violence field.  Field 42 has now been designated "DOM VIO".  This field must have an entry on approvals and at all interim changes or the case will not pass edits.  Staff will enter a "Y" or "N" in this field at approval.  If no entry has been made staff will see "438 DOMESTIC VIOLENCE INDICATOR REQUIRED ON CASE" when the edit function is performed on the IMU5 entries.  A copy of the IMU5 screen (page 2) and the ICAS screen have been included in this memorandum as an example.

This field may be updated if information later identifies or changes the payee's domestic violence status.

NECESSARY ACTION:
  • Discuss this memorandum with appropriate staff.
  • Begin entering the domestic violence indicator at application if known.
  • Begin entering Field 42 in the IMU5 system to indicate if domestic violence is an issue.
