TEMPORARY ASSISTANCE/CASE MANAGEMENT MANUAL REVISION #26 : SECTION 0280.020.19

SUBJECT:
TREATMENT/SUPPORT ACTIVITY (COMPONENT 19)
TEMPORARY ASSISTANCE/CASE MANAGEMENT MANUAL
REVISION #26  :  SECTION 0280.020.19

DISCUSSION:
The purpose of this memorandum is to discuss the change in definition of Component 19.  Component 19 has been changed to Treatment/Support Activities.

Component 19 is to be used while an individual is participating in a treatment or support group to overcome a barrier at any time while receiving Temporary Assistance.

Treatment or support activities may include but are not limited to:

  • Day Treatment
  • Counseling
  • Group Education
  • Group Counseling
  • Physical Rehabilitation
  • Alcoholic Anonymous (AA)
  • Narcotic Anonymous (NA)
  • Substance Abuse Traffic Offenders Program (SATOP)
  • Mental Health Case Management
  • Parents As Teachers (PAT)
  • Stay at Home Parenting
When an individual chooses to engage in a Treatment/Support Activity, these activities will need to be outlined on their Self-Sufficiency Pact.

While participating in component 19, supportive services may be provided as described in Section 0290.000.00 Level II & III Supportive Services.

Treatment/Support Activity does not count in the state's overall participation rate but will count towards the individual's required hours of work participation (30/20).  Participating in a Treatment/Support Activity assists the individual to move their family toward financial stability and self-reliance while receiving Temporary Assistance.

NECESSARY ACTION:
  • Review this memorandum and manual change with appropriate staff.
  • Begin using Treatment/Support Activity (component 19) immediately for individuals participating in a treatment or support group to overcome barriers to employment.
  • Make pen and ink changes to the Case Management Code Sheet for component 19 to read Treatment/Support Activity on Appendix K in the Temporary Assistance Manual and in the Case Management Desk Reference Guide.  (Code Sheets on the Intranet will be updated soon.)
  • File attached revised manual pages in the Temporary Assistance/Case Management Manual.
