SUBJECT:
MANAGED CARE DISENROLLMENT OF 19 YEAR OLDS

DISCUSSION:
During October, 2002, the Division of Medical Services (DMS) Managed Care Operations Unit will begin disenrolling from managed care children turning age 19 who are still active on MC+.  The disenrollment will be effective the day prior to their 19th birthdate.  Healthcare coverage for these children will be provided on a fee-for service basis until the child is removed from the MC+ case.  The attached notice will be sent advising of the change and how to obtain services for the child.

DMS will also be disenrolling children age 19 and older that have not yet been removed from the MC+ case.  The MCII screen will reflect the effective date of the disenrollment.  The disenrollment date will not be retroactive.  The family will be notified using the same attached letter.

NOTE:  Staff continues to be responsible for completing an ex-parte review of the individual's eligibility, sending an IM-80PRE and IM-80 prior to removing the ineligible child from MC+.
