STANDARD UTILITY ALLOWANCE FOR RENTERS

FOOD STAMP MANUAL REVISION #6
SECTION 1115.035.25.25
DISCUSSION:
The purpose of this memo is to clarify Item 4 of Section 1115.035.25.25 regarding the standard utility allowance for renters.  A revision to this section was issued per IM-208 dated 12/04/01.  An additional statement is added to Item 4 as follows:
"The SUA is also used if the landlord bills the household a flat rate for heating or cooling expenses separate from the rent."
The online manual is updated to include this revision.  Please add this statement to the hard copy version of the manual.
NECESSARY ACTION:
  • Review this memorandum with appropriate staff.
  • Implement this policy immediately. 
  • Add the statement to the hard copy of the Food Stamp Manual.
