IM-51 MAF SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER POLICY
MANUAL HEALTHCARE REVISION # 15 :  0905.010.05, 0905.010.05.05,

DISCUSSION:
Due to the separation of Medical Assistance for Families (MAF) and Temporary Assistance eligibility, we have revised the above sections of the Family Healthcare Manual related to Social Security numbers to reflect current policy.  Individuals failing to complete an application for a Social Security number or failing to provide an existing Social Security number are not eligible for MC+ healthcare coverage.  Temporary Assistance policy considers their income but not their need.  Unlike Temporary Assistance policy, their needs and income are included in the budget when determining eligibility for MC+ for the remaining assistance group members.  This policy applies to MAF, MC+ for Children, MC+ for Pregnant Women, and Non Custodial Parent eligibility.

References to the Temporary Assistance Manual have been removed from the MC+ for Children, MC+ for Pregnant Women and Non-Custodial Parent sections.

NECESSARY ACTION:
  • Review this memorandum with appropriate staff.
  • File the revised pages in the Family Healthcare Manual.
