TEMPORARY ASSISTANCE CONVERSION INTO FAMIS
TEMPORARY ASSISTANCE ELIGIBILITY UNIT MEMBER ROLES IN FAMIS

DISCUSSION:

This memorandum is another in the series to help staff prepare for Temporary Assistance conversion into FAMIS. This memorandum discusses the existing eligibility unit (EU) member roles in FAMIS and the new role created for the Temporary Assistance program.

In FAMIS a new EU member role is being created for the Temporary Assistance program. This new role will be added to the existing roles.

Currently in FAMIS the following roles exist:

EX – Excluded Person
IC – Included Person
IN – Individual for whom benefits are requested

A new role is being added for the Temporary Assistance program. It is:

PO – Payee Only

This new role “PO” applies only to the not-needy unrelated guardian (URG) and the not-needy non parent caretaker relative (NPCR). These two situations will be the only time the system will allow a worker to use PO and correctly determine benefits.

The Temporary Assistance Roles chart pdf file was developed to assist staff in determining the proper use of the EU member role for Temporary Assistance and when it will be allowable to change the role. The process for changing roles during conversion will be in the Roles in a Temporary Assistance Eligibility Unit Manual Conversion Guide which will be released closer to Temporary Assistance implementation.
