DISCUSSION:
Effective immediately, the income verification policy for Medicaid/MC+ and cash assistance is changed and clarified. The policy has been revised to standardize the verification requirements for Medicaid, MC+ and cash assistance programs. Verification of earned income received in the past 30 days is required to be obtained, if available. If verification of the income for the past 30 days is not available or does not reflect the client's current income, a statement from the employer is to be obtained. In addition, IMES information may NOT be used as verification of earned income.
Clarification of the policy regarding unearned income and acceptable methods of verification has also been completed.
NECESSARY ACTION:
- Review this memorandum with appropriate staff.
- Implement revised verification policy for all Medicaid, MC+ and adult cash assistance programs.
